Anne Gibson, Baroness Gibson of Market Rasen OBE

Baroness Gibson has made a long and distinguished contribution to occupational safety, particularly by championing the health and safety needs of women workers. From 1996 to 2000 she served as a member of the Health and Safety Commission and was influential in helping to plan and develop many new initiatives, particularly UK implementation of the European “pregnant workers directive” and new HSC plans to tackle musculoskeletal disorders and occupational stress. In 2000 she was made a member of the House of Lords where she is continuing to raise awareness of the importance of health and safety at work.

Awarded the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents Distinguished Service Award.
